Eyes to See and Ears to Hear

Matthew 13:15-17 (New International Version)

15For this people's heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and
they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and
turn,
and
I would heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes because they see,
and
your ears because they hear.

17 For I tell you the truth,
many prophets
and
righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it,
and
to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

Isaiah 6: 8-10

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send?
And
who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

9 He said, "Go and tell this people:
" 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.'

10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and
close their eyes.

Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and
turn
and be healed."

Thank You Lord

Thank you Lord for pulling me through another week
When I was so tired and thought I could not make it
You strengthened me and gave me Your rest.
You have always been so faithful to me.
Thank You.

I do not want to go back
To my muddy blackened state
So much fruits I lack
Instead of love I hate

Help me every moment
To be more like You
I want to be more fervent
Loving, kind and true

I only want to sleep
To escape from my stress
But I know that I will reap
what I sow, my life is in a mess

I need you to pull me through
Another day, another hour.
Because I cannot see through
I am void of any power.

I depend on Thee I depend on Thee
You are my only hope
WHen the light I at last shall see
No more in the darkness grope.

I need Thee every second

I need Thee every second
Most gracious Lord I pray
When storms around assail me
When the clouds now turn to grey

I need Thee
O I need Thee
Every second I need Thee
O help me to see Your plan
I lean on Thee

I need Thee every second
Help me stay close to Thee
When temptations seem so strong
I can only depend on Thee.

I need Thee
O I need Thee
Every second I need Thee
O help me see Your plan
I lean on Thee

I need Thee every second
O my firm rock I pray
It is hard to be moulded
But help me give thanks everyday

I need thee
O I need Thee
Every second I need Thee
O help me see Your hand
I lean on Thee

I need Thee every second
I know I can depend on Thee
Because I remember
How Thou was so faithful to me

I need Thee
O I need Thee
Every second I need Thee
O help me see Your hand
I lean on Thee

James 5

Warning to Rich Oppressors

1 Now listen, you rich people,
weep
and
wail because of the misery that is coming upon you.

2 Your wealth has rotted,
and
moths have eaten your clothes.
3 Your gold
and
silver are corroded.
Their corrosion will testify against you
and
eat your flesh like fire.
You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

4 Look!
The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields
are crying out against you.
The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.
5 You have lived on earth in luxury
and
self-indulgence.
You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.
6 You have condemned
and
murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you.

7 Be patient, then, brothers,
until the Lord's coming.

See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop
and
how patient he is for the autumn
and
spring rains.
8 You too, be patient
and
stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near.
9 Don't grumble against each other, brothers,
or you will be judged.

The Judge is standing at the door!

10 Brothers,
as an example of patience in the face of suffering,
take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

11 As you know,
we consider blessed those who have persevered.

You have heard of Job's perseverance
and
have seen what the Lord finally brought about.

The Lord is full of compassion
and
mercy.

12 Above all, my brothers,
do not swear—

not by heaven
or by earth
or by anything else.

Let your "Yes" be yes,
and your "No," no,

or you will be condemned.

The Prayer of Faith

13 Is any one of you in trouble?
He should pray.

Is anyone happy?
Let him sing songs of praise.

14 Is any one of you sick?
He should call the elders of the church to pray over him
and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.

15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;
the Lord will raise him up.

If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

16 Therefore confess your sins to each other
and
pray for each other
so that you may be healed.

The prayer of a righteous man is powerful
and
effective.

17 Elijah was a man just like us.
He prayed earnestly that it would not rain,
and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain,
and the earth produced its crops.

19 My brothers,
if one of you should wander from the truth
and someone should bring him back,
20 remember this:
Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death
and cover over a multitude of sins.

Ephesians 5

1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,
or of any kind of impurity,
or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
4 Nor should there be obscenity,
foolish talk or
coarse joking, which are out of place,
but rather thanksgiving.

5For of this you can be sure:
No immoral,
impure
or greedy person
—such a man is an idolater—
has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a]

6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7Therefore do not be partners with them.

8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.

11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,

but rather expose them.

12For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

13But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14for it is light that makes everything visible.

This is why it is said:
"Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you."

15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Wives and Husbands

22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30for we are members of his body. 31"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."[c] 32This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself,

and the wife must respect her husband.

James 4

Submit Yourselves to God

1 What causes fights
and
quarrels among you?
Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?

2 You want something but don't get it.

You kill
and
covet,
but you cannot have what you want.

You quarrel
and
fight.

You do not have, because you do not ask God.

3 When you ask, you do not receive,
because you ask with wrong motives,
that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?
Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason
that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?[a]

6 But he gives us more grace.

That is why Scripture says:
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."[b]

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God.

Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.

8 Come near to God
and he will come near to you.

Wash your hands, you sinners,
and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

9 Grieve,
mourn
and
wail.
Change your laughter to mourning
and your joy to gloom.

10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

11Brothers, do not slander one another.

Anyone who speaks against his brother
or judges him
speaks against the law
and judges it.

When you judge the law,
you are not keeping it,
but sitting in judgment on it.

12 There is only one Lawgiver
and
Judge,
the one who is able to save
and
destroy.
But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

Boasting About Tomorrow

13 Now listen, you who say, "Today
or
tomorrow we will go to this
or that city, spend a year there,
carry on business
and make money."

14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life?
You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

15 Instead, you ought to say,
"If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

16 As it is, you boast and brag.

All such boasting is evil.

17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

Pride and evil desires

Results in strife and quarrels. Covetousness. Motive is wrong so when you pray you do not receive.
Friendship with the world is hatred towards God. Slander others, judging others. Make plans for the future without God in mind but to achieve desires.

Submit yourselves to God

Come near to God

Humble yourselves before the Lord
Marilyn Monroe quote:

I'm trying to find myself as a person, sometimes that's not easy to do.

James 3

Taming the Tongue

1Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers,
because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

2We all stumble in many ways.

If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

3When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.
4Or take ships as an example.
Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds,
they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.
5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body,
but it makes great boasts.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.
6 The tongue also is a fire,
a world of evil among the parts of the body.
It corrupts the whole person,
sets the whole course of his life on fire,
and is itself set on fire by hell.

7All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed
and have been tamed by man,
8but no man can tame the tongue.
It is a restless evil,
full of deadly poison.

9With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father,
and
with it we curse men,
who have been made in God's likeness.

10 Out of the same mouth come praise
and
cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
11Can both fresh water and salt[a] water flow from the same spring?
12My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?
Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Two Kinds of Wisdom

13 Who is wise and understanding among you?
Let him show it by his good life,
by deeds done in the humility
that comes from wisdom.

14 But if you harbor bitter envy
and
selfish ambition in your hearts,
do not boast about it
or deny the truth.
15 Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven
but is earthly,
unspiritual,
of the devil.
16 For where you have envy
and
selfish ambition, there you find disorder
and
every evil practice.
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure;
then peace-loving,
considerate,
submissive,
full of mercy
and
good fruit,
impartial
and
sincere.
18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
